The Process
At the time an interview package is purchased, we will set an appointment to meet with you in your home. If distance prevents that, we will meet with you via telephone. We will conduct a pre-filming interview off camera to gather background information and to familiarize you with the process that we use to construct an interview format. We will ask you to identify important areas of your life and decide upon specific questions that will be covered during the on-camera interview. You will be in complete control of the interview. Our focus is simply to guide you in sharing your story.
Your interview will be divided into several specific chapters that will be determined by you. Commonly used chapters include:
Ancestry
Childhood
Schooling
Military
Religion
Career
Marriage
Family
Children
Grandchilden
Later Years
Legacy
We will also ask you to collect a series of photos, videos, memorabilia, etc. related to the chapters that you have selected that will be edited into the interview.
On filming day, we will once again come to your home, this time with the filming equipment to conduct the formal interview. The on-camera interview time usually takes a couple of hours. Professional lighting, and a wireless lapel microphone will be set up to create an ideal filming environment in your home.
If you are traveling to the St. George area for the interview and away from your own home, we can provide the filming location for you.
Once the interview has been completed, the recordings will be provided to our editing department for the editing process. This process usually takes between two to four weeks. You will be able to preview your interview chapter by chapter as it is created by using the Preview Room. We will issue you a password to access the link.
When the editing is complete and the interview has been burned to DVD, you will be delivered a personalized DVD of your life story enclosed in a handsome case with as many copies as you wish to order. We store a master copy in our archives in case you wish to order additional copies in the future and to assure its preservation.
